@erinspice it is very subtle, but there are three different icons next to the 'edit profile' action link that indicate whether you have edit permission, or require a collaborator or family relationship to edit that profile.
@ckey - Thanks!
@noah I have the same experience with the focus trouble in the search box as mentioned by @ckey
I'm having an issue with the search, in that I want to search profiles managed by myself with certain attributes, e.g. living and birthdate prior to a certain date.
Before I would have selected advanced search, and then populated some options.
Under the new search it doesn't work. I just get "We are experiencing technical difficulties".
I can't even perform other searches, for example on Zombies:
I still get "We are experiencing technical difficulties".
I raised a ticket with support (#JEB-195606), but was advised:
The issue is that you must include a name in order to complete a search.
How am I supposed to do an advanced search - where the criteria is not based upon name, but other details?
The new advanced search page is pretty much useless as the advanced pane doesn't show all fields available when opened up with the + sign. It seems the html coding is buggy. Is it just me or does anybody else have the same problem? I'm using IE7
With the new Advanced Search layout a complex query specification exceeds the vertical size of my screen, requiring scrolling. I much preferred seeing the entire query spec. without scrolling.
Same problem as @pantu in Chrome. It's on the "Home" (Family News) page.
Another Chrome issue - Public Discussions page header. "Public Discussion (##)" hovers above the normal site nav - I think there's a set width on it's container, and the ## pushes to the bottom and causes this.
@ckey and OddJob, do you mind sharing which browser and os you are using so we can try to figure out your search issue?
@unnjoh can you send an example to help@geni.com so we can take a closer look at your event issue?
@navistar96 sorry you don't like the new search design. I hope it will grow on you. The living/deceased and user/non-user filters are in the Attributes section.
@ted searches have always required a name, that has not changed in this release. We realize that in some cases it would be useful to search on other criteria without specifying a name, but that requires a rewrite of our search technology and we're not prepared to take on another project of that size just yet.
noah, I´ve sent now, two questions in one email, this event issue, and this:

thank you for helping
@Noah, I'm using IE8 and Windows Vista.

Thanks Noah, that's pretty much what I got from the support request. Is there anyway to use a wildcard in the name field?
@ted unfortunately not at this time. We do hope to have a solution for you at some point.
<p>@ckey and OddJob, do you mind sharing which browser and os you are using so we can try to figure out your search issue?</p>
@noah IE8 & XP
<p>@pantu I had the same issue in Safari4, but when I cleared my cache and reloaded, it went away.

Thanks for the tip, it looks fine after clearing the cache also in Chrome!
Now I am a happy reader and editor on my events again, it seems to be okay with everything, both outside and inside the events, in Firefox. thank you Geni Team! But in Internet Explorer is now a problem with the text "from the outside", it is cut off to the right and so the icon photos are not shown.
@unnjoh can you send the details to help@geni.com so we can take care of this last remaining issue?
done.
A rewriting of your search technology should be given the highest priority. You have promised it to us for years. The latest layout and navigation changes have not been any improvements. There seem to be lot of bugs in it.
What are you missing?
Searching for profiles supports most options, but search for messages and discussions are missing.
