    Did you invite those relatives to join Geni? Once they accept your invitation, they take ownership of their own profiles. They can choose to allow you to edit their profile on our Account Settings / Permissions page

    Sorry, maybe i can't explain exactly the problem. I am the manager of my tree and i start to add my relatives today. No one of them don't receive invitation from me yet.
    The problem is the following, some links or buttons don't works for me. When i click on edit link in my tree window, i see only the rotable flash icon on screen, nothing more. Before 3-4 hours the links works normaly. My question was is the problem in my browser settings or on Geni's servers is some maintenance?
    Sorry for my bad english, maybe there is the reason for my difficult to explain correctly all.

    Best Regards,
    Boris

    Could be something wrong with your connection or Geni's servers being slow. I've had it before where I sit there, waiting for the edit window to come up, but it doesn't. Can you edit the profiles if you go onto their actual profile (not tree view) and try editing from there? Usually, the problem goes away after a while for me.

    Ok thanks, i will try to edit profiles from their actual profile.
    By the way, i try now from my second home PC to connect and edit profiles, the edit link in tree window work again, slowly but work. If i have any problems again, i will tell you.
    Thanks to all for your quick response!
    Have a nice day and good luck!

    Cheers

    We've heard recent reports of terrible slowness, and so far I think they've all come from International users. This certainly seems like a networking problem. Because our pages embed code from Google, Facebook and our advertising partners, it's quite possible that the problem could be caused by any of these. We're still collecting information about the problem and one thing you can do to help us, is to let us know what the status bar at the bottom of your browser says its doing; it could be any of:

    * connecting to http://www.geni.com
    * connected to http://www.geni.com
    * transferring / downloading data
    * connecting to facebook.com
    * connecting to google.com
    * connecting to some other site
    * something else or just blank

    If anyone experiencing this problem uses a tool like Fiddler, a saved session during the time that the problem occurs would give us loads of useful information.

    Yes, i think that the problem is in the network too. This morning everything is working perfect. I can instal this program "Fiddler" and send to you information if that is useful for the improving of Geni!
    The status bar at the bottom of my browzer give me "Error on page" very often. I can copy this errors and send to you too if they can help with something.

    I wish nice and easy weekend

    "Error on page" is likely a JavaScript error. This could be from us or it could be from the JavaScript that comes from Facebook, Google or our advertising. If you see this error you could check your "JavaScript console" (usually found under Tools) to see if it's reporting a description of the error.

    Thanks for the follow-up, bobyj -- we'll make a note of it the next time we hear a similar report from another user.

    Boris, can you tell us which settings you changed, specifically? This will help us with other users who are troubleshooting similar issues. There may also be something we can do on our end so that Geni is less likely to generate false positives with security software.

    Can i post here images with my current settings in IE8? It's hard for me to explain with words. Please, tell me in PM, how can i upload here in forum images in jpg format. So every user with similar issues can see it and correct it if need.

    Unfortunately our forum software does not upload / store / display photos, so you'll have to put them on Flickr, PhotoBucket or some other photo sharing site of your choice. You can then post links to them here, or embed them in your message with an HTML image tag like this:

    <img src='link_to_photo_sharing_site'>

    @Jaman987 can you please report this problem to help@geni.com from the email address that you use to log into Geni, and the description that you posted above? And I'm not sure if the "magic jack" links are part of a standard signature or not, but we'd prefer to keep advertising links off these forums.
