What does Geni suggest?

A couple of days ago, Brad from the Geni team attemped to answer my question as to why after I upgraded to Macintosh Snow Leopard, that I can no longer view the tree. It is missing fonts and the pictures are mixed up. This was Brad's answer.

"We had another user with tree viewing problems after switching to Snow Leopard, and it turned out to be corrupted fonts on his machine. Replacing the fonts folder (I'm not sure what that entailed) fixed it for him. If re-installing the Flash player doesn't work, maybe restoring the fonts would fix it?"

I did reinstall the Flash player, but am unable to understand what "replace the fonts folder" means. I am not going to toss out all my fonts. These are the same fonts that I had on my other couputer.

If you can't offer a concrete solution within a couple of days, I will have to cancel out of my two year "Pro" membership. It's not worth it if I can't view the tree.

So you suggest that Geni should come home to you and fix your Mac?

I cant view the tree on my iPhone, but I don't blame Geni for that because i know that Apple boycott the use of third-part tools like Adobe flash on an iPhone.

Brad just forwarded some of the solutions other Mac users had found, and the conclusion so far is that it is likely that the problem is yours.

    Try another browser.

@wcdavis - have you created a help ticket and sent in a screenshot? It'd be helpful for me to see the problem you're having; if there is a ticket, please post or PM me the ticket ID number so I can look at it.

We did have one other user with a similar problem with his Snow Leopard upgrade, but he solved it on his own and reported back what I quoted. With a screenshot, we might be able to figure out something more detailed.

Are you using a real browser, instead of Safari? Give that a go.

How can I sign up for that nifty safari to go see the Snow Leopard and the Fire Fox? Any other cool animals on that trip?

The Geni tree is the only site that is giving my Safari browser any problems. Firefox isn't viewing it any better. No, brox, I haven't requested a house call from Geni; nor do I expect my iPhone to view the family tree. But I am glad that my post is giving PC users something to smile about.

Haha - I admit I am a jerk PC user. Sorry.

I can confirm Geni website does not work in Snow Leopard, 10.6.2, using Safari or Firefox. Never had an issue with my font folder.

I did just update my Flash plug-in to 10.1 beta. It is supposed to speed up flash content. Maybe that is the issue?

That must be it - I am on 10.6.2 with FF 3.5.5 and don't have any issues. Can you downgrade back to the previous version of flash?

OK that fixed it. Downgrading Flash from the new 10.1 beta to the previous version worked!! Trees are now fully visible.

I believe wcdavis' problem was solved by upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Apple had a problem that affected fonts in certain situations that they fixed with that update, released in early November.
