Referral Bonus

I think it would be nice to get a referral bonus for getting people to join. Not just for joining your tree, but for getting people to pay for a geni pro account. I know the lifetime account is pretty cheap versus some of the others out there, but it would definitely help out if the person referring another was to get like 1 month free or even a year free after so many referrals.

You must me smoking something that I would LOVE to share with you...
While I DO agree with you that a current Geni member SHOULD be rewarded for bringing in NEW REVENUE that will in the end help the site stay afloat...it will never happen unless the "powers that be" recognize the "power" that us "little people" actually poses in the entire scheme of things...
Bro...I have been an AVID Geni user since the DAY they launched the BETA site back in 2007. I have added close to 30,000 profiles BY HAND and close to a half a MILLION via import...I have posted thousands of posts, herein and on the WIKI, and I have STILL never received a referral bonus (even though I have invited almost 300 people to my tree and enabled Geni to have a close-to-30-million-profile-mega-"tree")! I NOT ONLY HAVE NOT received a "bonus". but I have NOT even received a "free pro account"! That's right, I have paid every month since the Pro Account feature was offered (and I was the FIRST pro user to sign up BTW).
Sooooo...for a company who is trying to stay afloat and keep the VC-guys at bay, I would think that if they start handing out ANY TYPE of "bone-us" or even a "free pro membership", there are a TON of us "power users" waiting online to obtain such a privilege!
So get in line...NEXT!

Do not insult The Prophet Scott Hibb, Peace Be Upon Him. He alone has spoken to the God of Genealogy and returned to us with 30,000 profiles upon 30,000 stone tablets, with which He founded Geni.
Ricky, I could see for getting people to pay for pro, etc. but, otherwise, I could just creat new email addresses for all the profiles on my tree that aren't claimed and cash in on whatever reward structure they have. There's got to be a credit card involved to prove it is a unique user.
